July meeting

A year ago, we were meeting at new VP Membership Karen’s house and deciding to formalise as a Guild, with Bob the farting dog keeping us entertained throughout the evening. (This is Bob).

A year later, we’ve almost outgrown our first hall and are trying out our second.

We welcomed Elizabeth, Di, Kerrie and Sue for their second meeting and their first as members, and we welcomed newbie quilter Mel for her first monthly meeting. Mel took home a quilt book to review and made good progress on her rag quilt, so the quilting bug has BITTEN!!!!

Show and Tell predominated in the leadup to the Claremont Craft Fair. Kate cleverly brought along a lime and purple improv log cabin to match the lime walls (and purple beams)…

Sheila took over Jodie’s role as “Member with the most Show n Tell” and wowed us with these beauties.

The jury was out on the new hall. Plus points – it’s in the city and you can get there by public transport. It’s more spacious and the tables are STURDY. On the downside, the tables are crazy-heavy (free year’s membership to the first member to recruit two muscly guys to quilting), the parking is limited (if you’re not in the first 15, forget parking out the back), it’s quite dark and there’s no kitchen access… Stay tuned as to where we will be next month… (And let us know if you know of anywhere!)
