Book Review by Beryl Snell – Fresh Quilting: Fearless Colour, Design and Inspiration by Malka Dubrawsky

I really like this book – it has a collection of simple projects that are modern, colourful and a bit different.  I recommend it for beginners as well as seasoned quilters.

The quilting detail of many of the projects is great, not that complicated but it definitely enhances the items. For example, Nate’s Quilt on page 127 and Strings Attached potholders and trivet on pages 37 and 43 respectively, would not be very interesting without the quilting detail.

So far I have made a small “Eye spy” quilt for a baby girl or young girl, using the design from Windows: Sewing machine cover on page 73.

Updated book review Beryl3

I used a collection of novelty prints and did some simple appliqué on the plainer fabrics.  I doubled the size of the squares (from 2.5” to 5”) and cut the strips at 1.5” instead of 1”.  The finished quilt looks great.
