To celebrate becoming ‘official’ and our first meeting in a real hall next Sunday, 19 August, we are running a mug-rug competition. The challenge is to design and make a mugrug using solids only and using the PMQG logo as inspiration. The competition will run from August to October, with some techniques and methods covered in the August and September meetings.
We have two wonderful Australian sponsors for this event.
The OzMaterial Girls are offering up a bundle of 20 Fat Quarter Solids. Who wouldn’t want to win that?! Check them out on Facebook.
And QuiltJane of WantItNeedItQuilt is offering a Bella solids jelly roll.
At the August meeting, we’ll look at some of the techniques that can be used in creating mugrugs, such as improv and paper piecing. Bev and I had a play to see what we could do. Bev did an improv blocks and curves creation
I had a go at designing my own paper-piecing pattern, which I’ll be showing on QuokkaQuilts on Wednesday as part to Kristy@QuietPlay’s paper piecing blog-hop.
So, what are you waiting for? Get August 19 in your diary and come and join us for an afternoon of social sewing. Remember, you can come to two meetings as a non-member before joining up officially. Country members are most welcome to enter the competition via Flickr For a list of what to bring, please click here.
