Our very first PMQG Sundowner was held at Calico and Ivy on the evening of 6 February. Who knows if it was the lure of the bubbly, the chance to unwind with friends at the end of the week or the chance to stroke the amazing fabric selection (Liberty!) that attracted everyone but it was a great turnout.
Once everyone had had a chance to chat and a glass of something cold, we got on with our own show and tell. The ladies at Calico and Ivy were most interested to see what we are up to and the items on display did not disappoint them or us! Here are some of the beautiful quilts brought along on the evening:
After we had had a chance to admire what our members are currently working on and discuss some sashing/backing/quilting ideas (you know us, not backwards in coming forwards with an idea!) for some of the projects, Tash of Calico and Ivy showed us what was new and available in the shop in the way of books, fabric and classes. Everyone thought these little dolls were adorable and at least one member was spotted purchasing the book and fabric to embark on her ragdoll project…
And of course Calico and Ivy is known for its Liberty fabric (some of which can be seen behind Tash in the above photo). So when they mentioned classes in hand sewing using Liberty fabric, many enthusiasts were all ears…
It wouldn’t be a PMQG special event without a door prize and this was no exception. Calico and Ivy put together a beautiful Liberty paper piecing project bundle (try saying that after a couple of champagnes!) for one lucky winner…
The two hours flew by and ended in a frenzy of shopping, as all Friday evenings should. Many of the ladies made the short trip across the road for more socialising and some delicious tapas, which was just the perfect way to finish off the night.
This was an exclusive PMQG members only event and while we welcome non members to meetings and some functions, if this sounded like your cup of tea (or glass of bubbles) make sure you become a financial member to reap all the benefits!
