March meet up – part 2

After we’d played with the Sweet 16 to our hearts’ content, it was onto the business part of the meeting. By business, I mean SEWING and showing off what we were working on…

One of the best things about meeting up with other quilters is definitely having extra pairs of hands around to help out, and extra eyes and brains to offer suggestions!

Showing off

We welcomed two newcomers to our March meeting, both of whom delighted us with some show and tell. Kim, with her crosses quilt (above) showed us that the back side (of her quilt!) was as bright and beautiful as the front.

Rebekah brought along her Rose Quilt – a WIP of long standing (yes, those are gerberas, Rose is Rebekah’s daughter!).

Modern BOMs

There were a few block beauties from the Modern Blocks book. Janine needle-turn appliqued a little bird.

Karen played with pinwheels.

karenbomFor the first BOM, Lemons and Limes, Bev bedazzled us with her bright variation on the theme.

Quite a few Lemons and limes appeared – a few more and we should be able to make a nice charity quilt!

The NEXT BOM is Wonky Star – which Janine will walk us through. This one is going to be luv-er-ly! Posted tomorrow, so keep an eye on the blog!bom2

Finally, as the sun was setting, before we headed off to the pub raced home to our home and families, Kim showed off the ipad app she’d used to design her crosses quilt – Quilt Wizard.
